Hello, I'm Katherine,
I've always loved being creative and have a passion for learning (despite hating school!). After running my own publishing business for over 10 years, I sold it in 2025 to focus full time on my candle business.
What started as a creative hobby back in 2019, after taking a course in candle making, soon became a real passion and over time I have carefully refined each stage of the candle making process to create scents and candles that I'm proud of.Â
Every candle is hand-poured by me at my home studio on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown Forest in Sussex, England.Â
Behind the Brand
Hayes is my maiden name, and Katherine means 'pure'. I wanted my business name to reflect both my roots and the values behind my candles. As white is often associated with purity, Hayes & White was born.
What inspires me?
It all begins outdoors. From peaceful woodland walks and beautiful gardens to the changing colours of the seasons, nature has always been my biggest source of inspiration. There's something about stepping outside that clears my mind. A walk in nature can put almost anything right.
Some of my favourite blends are Wild Rosarium, Coconut & Rosewood, Morning Light, and Wild Fig & Cassis.
No day can start without a really good cup of coffee. I don't drink much of it, so when I do, it has to be a good one!
If you were a fly on the wall while I'm pouring candles, you'd almost certainly hear me singing along to my favourite 90s playlist. One minute it's Alanis Morissette or Eminem, the next it's the Spice Girls or Backstreet Boys. It's basically a one-woman concert while the candles are being made!
